I just learned that my friend Howard is running the NY Marathon this fall to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign, a UK based charity.
Howard is probably one of the cleverest men I know and the only person who might actually read more than I (although he has a nasty habit of not giving certain books back). He's back home in London now, but we met a couple summers ago in NY when I interned in his department at a Very Important news organization. I charmed the hell out of him with my wit and strategically low-cut shirts (oh, I was sooo that intern).
Anyway, I got a message from him this morning about the DC "crime emergency" advising me to take extra care of my "fine chassis." (I'm such a sucker for good use of vocabulary). I thought that was rather sweet and so I figured I ought to give his fundraising efforts a bit of a plug. He's always been a strong supporter of women's breasts, so I wasn't at all surprised to hear that he is willing to come all the way from London to run a full 26.2 miles for them...
He's committed to raising $5,000 and is just over half his goal. Click here to help him get a bit closer.
Good luck, Reesy...

Hey, Alejandra,
So you belittle Disney for saying a 'cast member' was offering assistance to the family of a kid who died on a roller-coaster. Are you trying to exploit the unfortunate death of a kid to display your slick verbal wit? That's kind of sick. Anyway, at least Disney showed some compassion. The same cannot be said about certain DC residents who, in the wake of a deadly crime wave, sympathise with the perpetrators and not the victims, while ho-humming the crime situation altogether. Enjoy the volence! Greg
Yes, Greg. That's exactly what I was doing. I noticed that you spent quite a bit of time on my blog this morning (there is no such thing as anonymity online), so you must have noticed that I'm an incredibly insensitive (some might even say heartless) person. Tragic accidents, crime waves, cancer--these are the things I thrive on. I do hope you'll come back and read again as the only thing I love more than dead babies is an overly sensitive reader who not only can't take a joke, but misses the point entirely. I think you and I will get along really well...
aha! so more controversy huh? ;) She was just poking fun at the WORDAGE used in the article NOT the fact that a poor child died in an accident. If she had then trust me I would be the first one to slap her.
I'm sure Elizabeth (is that her name?) would appreciate the plug for another marathoner trying to raise money. Good luck Howard and E :)
Oh, and Greg, since you seem to be so concerned about the ills of the world, I trust that you put your money where your mouth is and sent Howard a generous donation to support cancer research. I'd expect nothing less from you...
Hit a nerve, Alejandra? Sorry, money isn't the answer to all the ills of the world. Look at DC. Many millionaires; hundreds of murders. Stay there.
I'm sorry...did I read you correctly? Did you just suggest I get murdered? Oh that's classy...you better pray nothing happens to me or guess which IP address will be the first investigated...
you cracked me up with that one Alejandra.
oh my goodness. All this over the fact that Disney calls everyone 'Cast members' and how awkward/slightly commical it sounded written in an statement of condolence? Don't read too much into it! She wasn't condoning violence or saying the actual situation was funny. Had she said HAHA a child died how funny- I'd see your point.
I never realized how touche people can be! It seems like you want to fight a battle (worth fighting of course) but with the wrong person. Loosen up a bit.
and what the hell are you talking about? Money isn't the answer to everything but when someone is trying to FUNDRAISE for a good cause it does seem obvious doesnt it? You're a little nutty
Alejandra, you ignorant slut: You told me to put my money where my mouth is and send some dollars to that guy you're pimping for. You sarcastically said I should do so because I "care so much for the ills of the world" (who knows from where you got that nutty idea). I replied that throwing money at a problem -- or at some guy who claims to be fundraising (as if there's a guarantee he'd hand it over to this good cause) -- isn't the only way to solve it. So no, no money for your friend and his cause, no thanks to you.
Nor do I wish any harm to you or anyone else in your excuse of a city. I don't have to: you guys are doing a fine job harming one another on your own.
just another day at the chocolate factory...
Please tell us where you're from Greg. I'm dying to know where I should be househunting since DC is so retched.
Oh man this really is funny reading it in Stewie Griffin's voice!!
